NOTE: This concert takes place in the Kennedy Center Concert Hall.
Bundle up and bring a good book if you plan to catch the Kennedy Center's ever-popular annual concert in which the audience becomes part of the show. Those who endure the long wait for a free ticket -- a true test of holiday spirit -- will be rewarded with the opportunity to sing along to Handel's "Messiah" with the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra, a 200-person choir and professional soloists. Tickets (one per person) will be distributed at 6 p.m., but those who want to participate should plan on getting there much earlier. Kennedy Center staff advise that the building opens at 10 a.m., so people are welcome to start lining up then, and volunteers and ushers will be on hand to make sure the process runs smoothly and fairly. Translation: one person probably won't be able to hold a spot for a group of 20 to jump in at the last minute.
