Loretta's talents include real-life vocals, incredible songwriting, a classic wit, author. Her songs are about feelings and life-situations anyone can relate to. She's never feared any topic, from divorce to a birth control pill, when it was all taboo to mention. She's a living legend, and ALL of her CDs are well worth getting. You'll find so many treasures in songs you've likely never even heard before. She's amazing!
So I was 7 or 8, I heard this voice on the radio and a song, "Rated X;" a song about the double standard placed on a divorced woman. At the time it went over my head, but many radio stations were not playing it due to it's 'racy' lyrics. Something in Loretta Lynn spoke not only to divorced women but the men they left. At my young age, I couldn't help but pay attention when she sang; her songs demanded it. Over the years, it was like having a 2nd Mom; she loved you no matter what, but no matter what, don't push it. Today she's called an icon and she sure is, but I've come to know Loretta Lynn as an old friend telling me she's back in town and I better be there or else. Yes, M'am!! I wouldn't miss it!
