Youth Rises to the Occassion

Wow! Sometimes I wonder if orchestras can survive in the "modern world"but there is no question talent abounds based on this performance. Had I had the chance to accompany Joshua Bell in such a venue at age 16, my violin might not be sitting in a closet. The NYO was disciplined, crisp in execution and attentive to detail. Their Geshwin encore was a total triumph. It was a joyful celebratory evening with a wildly appreciative audience. Gergiev seemed to have a real connection with both his charges and the audience.
