System of a Down and Deftones are two metal bands that have never fit in with the genre's ritualistic pomp and pageantry. And they never really fit in with the dopey, testosterone-fueled nu-metal bands they were often lumped with during the early 2000s. System of a Down is best known for its weird time signatures, political lyrics and frontman Serj Tankian's spastic, superspeed vocals. The Deftones also have spent a career avoiding easy pigeonholing, offering equal helpings of monstrous riffs and intriguing sound experiments. Expect both acts to turn the volume way up for this arena show, keeping things weird but also offering plenty of moments of headbanging bliss.
