The hit musical brings murder, intrigue and "All That Jazz" to D.C.

Two main characters: Roxie, played by Charlotte d'Ambrose, and Velma, played by Terra C. MacLeod..both sizzle with their amazing dance talent. They each present a unique dance approach to their characters. Charlotte demonstrates phenomenal physicality in her dance..down to her little pinky. Terra is long, lithe and limber with "nose touching" front kicks and amazing acrobatics. Carol Woods, playing "Mama" Morton, knocks out the audience with her jazzy and punched up version of "When You're Good to Momma". Her booming vocals are complimented with crisp, clear diction. Overall I thought the production was fun, lively, bawdy. The performance is focused on the dance/singing so there is minimal props/stage decor.
This was the fourth time I have seen Chicago live. Only in the hope of seeing some of the stellar cast take over for the lethargic, flat, boring, and yes, by the second act drunk, leads would I again. What's his name, the Seinfeld guy? His eyes were blood shot marbles by the time he moped through razzle dazzle. Which, for the first time I have ever experienced in live theater, got zero applause at the end of the number. Not even the about abortive single clapper who realized he/she was alone. Nothing, a total Bugs Bunny. The supporting cast, though? Wow! I can not wait for them to come back. Especially the two that played the 'not guilty' Hungarian and Fred Casley. Those two were outstanding.
I went with my Mother's Senior group for opening night. All I I can say is FANTASTIC! I loved how they interacted with the front row; the 2 10 year old girls were a little shocked that Roxie was talkng direclty to them.
I was fortunate enough to see this show when it was in Chicago, the city. I expected the show to be good, but I was very pleasantly surprised to find that it was AMAZING! Being a sucker for a good dance number, I was captivated by Charlotte D'Amboise as Roxie and was equally impressed by the ensemble! This show is a must see!
