Watkins Regional Park in Prince George's County has an array of outdoor recreation to keep the family busy on a nice spring day. From athletic fields and campgrounds to a nature center, the park is packed with activities. Explore a turtle pond, freshwater and saltwater aquariums, a children's Discovery Corner, as well as live displays of local reptiles, amphibians, and birds of prey. Other attractions at the 500-acre Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission area include a miniature train, antique carousel, the Old Maryland Farm and a playground.

Pony rides are offered at the Old Maryland Farm from 11 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and 1 to 1:30 p.m. on Saturdays. Riders must be at least 2 years old. The cost is $2. Call 201-218-6770 for information about Old Maryland Farm.

The 18-hole, par-45 miniature golf course features such entertaining obstacles as a water-spitting turtle, wishing well, house and loop.
