Tree-lined trails circle a man-made lake in this urban oasis, which was designed as a tribute to the founding of the nation. An island in the center of the lake is beset with stones inscribed with the names and signatures of the people who signed the Declaration of Independence.
And while the commemorative aspects of the area are interesting, the garden's best feature is simply its solitude. Visitors take refuge from the elements underneath shady trees and rest weary feet while sitting on the area's many benches.
Concession stands and restrooms are available.
