Redskins Tailgate Party

Happy hour

Editorial Review

If you want to hear a great old-school soul or hip-hop DJ, then Dodge City is an obvious destination. But when thinking about places to watch the Redskins, the U Street tavern probably isn't at the top of your list.

Well, it should be.

Every Sunday, Dodge City opens its doors early to show the Redskins on a large screen in the first-floor bar and fires up a grill on the spacious back patio. Grab a half-smoke, spicy Italian sausage or veggie burger from local purveyor 13th Street Meats. Top it with all the fixin's (peppers, onions, chili, cheese) and a bag of chips for $8 - perfect for pairing with a local brew from DC Brau or Chocolate City Beer. (Look, you are here to support the home team.)

Dodge City doesn't have as many screens or menu offerings as other sports bars, but if you're looking for a cool, laid-back neighborhood tailgating atmosphere - down to your bartender in a vintage Heath Shuler jersey - it's tough to beat.
