There's no better time to celebrate heavy metal than Halloween. From Motley Crue's "Shout at the Devil" and Pantera's "Cowboys From Hell" to the entire oeuvre of Black Sabbath and Slayer, metal has always had ties to darkness. Perfect time, then, for another edition of Spirits in Black, the monthly cocktail party where American Ice Co.'s bartenders and special guests whip up appropriately ghoulish (and delicious) cocktails while DJs get the crowd to throw up their devil horns and shout along with metal tunes. On Sunday, award-winning PS7's mixologist Gina Chersevani gets behind the bar for a one-time-only cocktail menu, special beers from DC Brau will flow, and local thrash band Warchild judges the costume contest, where prizes include 9:30 Club tickets, tattoo gift certificates and liquor.
