I've been to BP’s happy hour 3 times, & finally I’ve learned my lesson. The bar service is unforgivably atrocious. If you’re an uber-regular, you may be treated as if you are “customer” who deserves what we call “service”. If you are not, I advise that you have rock-bottom expectations. Our last visit: we waited ages for drinks/food; waiters rarely got orders correct; & wait staff generally seemed over-burdened & disinterested. We received possibly the worst service I’ve ever received anywhere in DC. I’m normally forgiving, but heed my advice, go anywhere else if you have the opportunity. This is a place that exists because of location alone. Anywhere else, it would suffer an *unnoticed* restaurant demise.
My family and I had tickets for a show at the National Theater at 8pm and we assumed that a 6pm reservation a place right accross the street would be more than enough time. Boy were we wrong! We sat for over an hour before even the soup and salads arrived. The waiter also neglected to mention that the soup had shellfish in it, which I loathe and they are lucky that I don't have an allergy. Suffice to say we demanded the check and with alot of promises and tap dancing around us, we finally got our dinners with 10 minutes to spare. Food was good, but the restaurant was not even half full and there is no excuse for such horrible service, not even the free Sam Adams that was given to us while our stomachs growled...
do not go to this restaurant. It seems on hard times or something. Out of the first two cuts of steak I ordered. Out of sides. Waiter never came back after food finally appeared. They were out of scotch! Weird.
