Apparently, if you are the coolest place in town, you can treat your customers like sh*t and still have crowds. I used to be a fan, but I'm over their ridiculously bad service. I was barked at by my server recently for inquiring about my latte 15 minutes after ordering it. Recently I was told "We don't do custom eggs" when I asked for my eggs poached instead of scrambled. AT BRUNCH - WHEN POACHED EGGS ARE ON THE MENU. Please. Get over yourselves.
We (party of six) were told we would have a 20 minute wait for a table. After half an hour we were told the wait might be another half hour and would we like to sit outside (an option we were told was not available when we entered, even though there were lots of empty tables). We agreed, provided we could sit by one of the outdoor heaters. We were seated by the only heater that didn't work (the waitress, we understood later, knew this), and the staff not only would not move us, but treated us rudely (we were, until the end, when it was ridiculous, being gracious). We completely understand how hard it is to anticipate tables, but their treatment was astonishing.
We went to Busboys for their 2009 new years party and it was the best new years i've ever had! The food was great, the champagne was yummy and everyone was having a good time. I also like to go to Busboys for the free wi-fi and great sandwiches. LOVE having it in our city!
I visited BB&P during Inauguration Week from Nashville, TN. I loved the gorgonzola & carmelized onions burger w/ the kettle chips & chipotle mayo. The food was pricey, but excellent, and the decor was wonderful.
There was no better place to spend election night, or any of the debate nights leading up to Nov. 4th. Busboys and Poets attracts a warm crowd of folks that I've certainly enjoyed this season.
We went last night and encountered out-of-order beer taps, ordering two different wines both of which were out, a greasy turkey burger and soggy falafel. Service was friendly, as usual.
I love this place. I love the atmosphere, the bookstore, the food, and the people. There is always a great community representation here. The free wireless goes well with the tasty coffee drinks, and the events are great.
