This DC-based bakery, run by former lawyer Warren Brown, hits the sweet spot with delectable cakes, cupcakes and signature crunchy feet.

I tasted a slice of the coconut cake and it was so flavorful and light. The icing was not too sweet and the cake was good. I would like to buy a cake for the next event that i attend.
Yesterday, we walked around the National Harbor and checked out "Cake Love". We bought a couple slices of cake and some cupcakes. Firstly, it was expensive. Secondly...it sucked. Cake texture was dy and crumbly. Buttercream was OK. Now, I don't like my desserts too sweet (most American bakeries...to me....make their cakes and icings waay too sweet ). But this stuff was too far in the other direction. I mean the Buttercream tasted like whipped butter....that's it. The cakes were more like bread. I've had sweeter Challah I mean, why is this guy and his shops soo famous? Is it just because Oprah said they're good, everyone has to say they're great?! I don't CARE about the "story". I want good product. As my wife put it "Entemann's is better
Cake Love has a great story, and Love Cafe is an adorable little coffee shop that I like to support. However, their cupcakes are the most overrated in the city. I think they taste stale, and the icing tastes like air. All in all, not worth $3.58 or the calories. However, I can't entire talk the cakes down because Neils Hat Trick, the full cake, is one of the best cakes I have ever had. Just stay away from the cupcakes.
