Personable Italian spot stands above the Bethesda restaurant crowd with its innovative Tuscan menu.
Ate dinner there recently and the place seemed stale. The hostess seated us, but it took a while for her to bring rather old looking menus to us. I ordered a Palazzo dell Torre and was told that they no longer carried it because Montgomery County no longer carries it. I am drinking it now, having purchasd the bottle at the county store where I always get it. Our salmon was disgusting, floating in a sea of oil, and we sent it back. Old menus, no sommelier, untrained staff, poorly supervised kitchen. I will not return.
Cesco is no longer cozy, but it consistently offers fresh, beautifully prepared appetizers, soups, fish, and pastas. We also appreciate that the staff are willing to modify the food preparation to create courses that are low in fat/salt, etc. This is an extraordinarily responsive restaurant. About half of the waiters and staff have been with Cesco for years and have an admirable work ethic, and patrons look forward to interacting with them. I give Cesco four stars because it is one of the few restaurants that I actively look forward to patronizing frequently for the high quality of its offerings, the professionalism of its staff, and the atmosphere that Chef Ricchi has created.
