In addition to the expected filet mignon and dry-aged rib-eye, the kitchen sends out fine seafood and dishes that surpass routine steakhouse items.

Charlie Palmers has become one of my favorites. The food is phenomenal. The atmosphere is spectacular. Whether staying for dinner, or just stopping by for a glass of wine (nice wine list), I have never been disappointed.
I went in to this meal with low expectations. It was restaurant week and I also know that Palmer's is known as being one of those 'go to be seen' type places. Having said that, I was blown away by my evening at CPS. We were seated right away despite the packed restaurant, there seemed to be a million people there to help (coat check, people with drinks, a bus boy with water, here is yet another bus boy with bread!). Our waiter was excellent; attentive and read our table exactly right. But no amount of service can make up for poor food, but CPS did NOT disappoint! My scallops were amazing! The Hen of the Woods Mushrooms were fantastic and the sirloin was perfectly cooked. All in all my best restaurant experience in DC.
no complaints at all! the food was great, but the desserts completely overshadowed the meal! the house specialty--a chocolate hazelnut pyramid--was THE best dessert i've ever had. it was so rich and decadent that the only downside of it was that it was too small. not to worry though, because we were there for my father's birthday he got a free one in addition to the one i ordered! after our amazing meal, the GM took us up to the penthouse suite and out on to a deck where we could see the entire city (not to mention the capitol building a block away) unobstructed by any trees or buildings--we were able to get some really great pictures to cap a memorable night. i would definitely recommend this place!
CP has a much more refined atmosphere, than the other steak places in DC. Our server, Mark went out of his way to please my super picky guest. The venison loin was scrumptious! We split the scallop special for an entree, which was great. The only blemish on the evening, which our wine was late to the table, was smoothed over with delectable (and complimentary) dessert of the chocolate pyramid. I will run back just to have the venison, which was cooked rare as I requested, served over sweet potato, butternut squash and a little parma bacon. Decadent! There are plenty of steakhouses in DC but it's nice to have options on the menu other than ribeye.
