Tried Chef Geoff's last night before a show at the Warner. Sat at the bar and had the duck tamales and the curried chicken and couscous. Loved them both. Nearly no wait at all for the tamales which were pretty tasty and with the best sauces ever. As for the entree, the chicken was cooked perfectly and sooo flavorful as was the Isreali couscous. Loved it! Will definitely go back and will probably stay at the bar, since we had such a good experience.
Black on the outside, medium rare on the inside for a burger ordered medium. The tomato slice was placed under the burger so that it became smiley and partially cooked. The spicy bbq sauce had no flavor other than spice (If I wanted hot sauce I would have ordered hot sauce for my burger). I have had far better burgers at crappy American chains like TGI Fridays and Ruby Tuesdays for half the price.
After my dinner last night, I am baffled that this restaurant has earned any positive reviews. Although our service was excellent, the cooking was sub-par, especially considering the high prices. We started with so-so calamari and tasty but sloppily wrapped summer rolls that fell apart when you picked them up. Both steaks (ribeye and filet) were served rare, rather than medium-rare as ordered. Both were dry and flavorless - seemingly the victims of too much time in a warming drawer. When we sent back the steaks, they were just heated some more, drying them out even further. One dessert tasted store-bought (the cheesecake) but the s'mores brownie was superb. This is NOT a restaurant I would visit again.
I tried this spot because the beer special was tempting…big MISTAKE. We sat at the bar area and the waiter was drunk. You could smell the liquor on him – lost my appetite. Came back again and this time the waitress had major attitude. I always like to give a spot a second chance and both times they have failed so I won’t be back! If service matters to you then please go elsewhere. There are plenty of places to choose from in this city who’d love to have your hard earned money!
We had a decent dinner before going to a show at the Warner Theatre. Our dinner was pretty good but be ready to pay the high prices. Aside from the haughty young maitre'd, our service was great. We dined on the yellow tail tuna and the mussels. It's so conveniently located to the theatre that I am pretty sure we will return, despite the cost. It would have been nice for them to offer a fixed price pre-theater menu.
Had brunch this past Sunday at Chef Geoff's Downtown. Really great! Celebrated an event with eight other friends. Could not have been a more relaxing and enjoyable meal (even if the fire alarm went off for a bit!). Very professional and personal wait staff. Entertaining and engaging as well. Food prepared wonderfully -- large portions -- we all left very full! Asked for more coffee cake and given it without question! The jazz trio really added to the meal. Such a great deal. Will definitely recommend, as well as return!
