Cicada desserts: More than meets the (red... Maura Judkis
Pizza on 14th Street NW, from Manny Maura Judkis and Alex Baldinger
We used to love this place, but the food has become mediocre at best. After our experience there last week, however, we won't ever be returning. Although we notified our server of an inability to eat shellfish, we didn't learn until the end of the meal (when we asked out of curiosity) that dishes served to our table did, in fact, include oyster sauce -- had the allergic person shared these items, it would have been disastrous (just lucky he didn't!). Since it is common for people to share dishes at Chinese restaurants, this oversight was surprising to say the least. And the server didn't seem to understand the issue at all..despite coming back several times to identify ingredients for the allergic person.
