The fish display is nice and unique. I like how the waiter explains the types of fish and how they prepare it, very interactive. The manager was impressive, she recommended us a greatly priced bottle of wine with our sole fish. They must be understaffed because I saw her answering the phones, welcoming guests, handling the staff, and cleaning fish. The waiters, especially the manager care about their service, because ours was wonderful. If you want to be treated like royalty visit this place. The reason I gave it three-stars was due to the fact the menu is kind of boring compared to separately priced fish 'market'
I had a office happy hour here and it was very impressive. The wine by the glass was only $5. Their appetizers are really delicious, shrimp tempura and mussels..yum. Some of us had dinner later because it was really affordable. They had 3-course set menu for $35. The food was good and the service was friendly. I would recommend this place!
I went to D'Acqua for New Year's Eve and was blown away. People were dancing to the live music, the atmosphere was romantic; I couldn't ask for anything more. The food was spectacular and the service was flawless.
I really like this Italian restaurant, its food is probably better than most Italian places in D.C. A real plus about the tasty pasta was the large portions. The atmosphere is nice; the food and service was good. Overall I spent $40 on one glass of wine, an appetizer and a pasta dish.
great food and service. D'acqua has great seafood but other dishes are great as well
I read the reviews and decided to try out it for myself. I was impressed by the versatile menu, primarily a seafood restaurant, they do have choices for steak lovers and vegetarians. The service was top-notch, they were attentive. There are many tasty appetizers to choose from. The fish takes about twenty minutes to cook but its worth the wait. The fish was moist, refreshing, and tasteful, and it makes you realize why it takes 20 min., because fresh fish needs a little patience for perfection. I was blown away by the fish. My guest, a meat lover, chose the Beef Taglita, which was tender and satisfying. We spent avg. $ for fine dining but they did have some sort of budget menu, which looked yummy but I was set on their salt-encrusted fish.
I am regular at Dacqua, it is probably the best cheap, luxurious food in D.C. I entertain a lot of guests and I usually take them to Dacqua for happy hour (so cheap) or if I have a lunch business meeting. Its only $24 for their preset lunch menu! It makes me feel comfortable knowing that my guest can afford it if they want to pick up the tab. Its not noisy like most American restaurants where the music pounds at your head. I like it because it has sophistication without high prices, especially if you stick to their preset menus, which are different every week...remarkable!
The fish is amazing, it tastes light and yet is fulfilling. My wife had the linguine with clams which was good but not better than my salt encrusted Orata fish. The atmosphere is mellow accompanied by Mediterranean music. The clientele were well-dressed politicians, business people, and well-to-do citizens. The high class atmosphere does not faze the staffers, who are down-to-earth and joyous. Overall this restaurant has better service than any other place in D.C. They've come along way since those first bad reviews. Great improvement, two-thumps up!

Great Find! the restaurant has great big windows to showcase the wonderful view of the navy memorial. great place to have a business meeting. the hostess was delightful and courteous! the manager, a beautifully-charming italian woman steals the show, when she cleans your selected fish. the staff is knowledgeable about the food and wine! only complaint is that i didnt find this place earlier. As nicolail posted, they have a stimulus menu everyday...great for my budget!
Excellent Italian food, I loved it, one of my new favorite restaurant's! the people were nice, lots of staff. SURPRISINGLY, most of the staff actually speak italian, its rare to find that kind of authenticity. my favorite is the fish market, salt-crusted is the best way to eat fish. my husband is not a fan of soft tasting fish but the waiter explained the different textures of each fish and now my husband only eats fish (salt-crusted Branzino) when we go to Dacqua.
the most affordable menu for a fancy meal. they have a special menu, like restaurant week, everyday! $25 for lunch, $34 for dinner. i go there twice a week now because its the best place to impress your guests, knowing that they always have the 'stimulus plan' menu!
I had a wonderful dining experience at Dacqua last week. This restaurant has fancy food at an affordable price. the hostess presented us with the 'stimulus' menu which she said they now have everyday I believe its $25 for lunch and $34 for dinner, and the choices on the menu are delicious. I had the mussels for 1st course, and the salmon for second, and chocolate mousse cake for dessert..yum! I now go there two times a week.
