"Contemporary Indian fare," the menu says by way of introduction, before moving on to "small plates of street food."

I caught this place at two great times. The first time was when I dropped in with my Indian friend for lunch. They have a buffet spread that is a steal. The next time I took a couple of friends and hit the place at Happy Hour. We tried almost everything from the TAPAS menu as it was half-price during happy hour. They have great variety, nice décor and helpful service. One of the better Indian restaurants I have been to.
The Heritage India offers traditional Indian local authentic food. here you go to get the most authentic flavours of Indian cuisine, every bite you take here takes you back to the historical India with rich, bright ambience. Try the chicken tikka masala (Charbroiled cubes of chicken in an onion tomato sauce flavoured), Lamb Vindaloo (A spicy lamb curry in malt vinegar, hotpeppers and a blend of spices), sag paneer , The chef uses recipes taken from the local Indian households in North part of India, and the service is efficient and friendly."
Heritage India , DuPont circle has consistently good food, efficient service and a breathtakingly beautiful ambience. A rustic ambience with mouth watering kababs, tikkas and platter, you can enjoy a great meal here. Try their rice, tandoori prawn, murg malai kawab and many more such exotic delights. This is a great place to dine when you are in the mood for some expensive yet worth it fare. Do celebrate a special occasion in this amazing restaurant where you get everything, great food, and excellent ambience and prompt service.
Spacious, stylish and elegant with a modern look, plush décor, the restaurant is certainly refreshing . Refined cuisine and traditional Indian expertise are the hallmarks of Heritage India right from the time it started. The menu has a whole range of mughlai delights including kababs, tikkas, curries and rice, both vegetarian and non vegetarian. Heritage India dishes up up excellently with most of the gravies and the daal. A must try as this is the only place in town where one can sample authentic, original Indian cuisine.
"The first of its kind stand alone Indian restaurant in the city. It's been quite a some time now , it continues to remain a hot favorite with everyone who enjoys Indian food in a no fuss atmosphere where the focus is only on one thing-outstanding cuisine. The ambience adds drama to an excellent meal what with mysterious indian paintings . The new Heritage India is big and beautiful, with service far more polished than anything I've experienced in town."
If you are in the mood for mixing and matching food, visit Heritage India ! Heritage India has a vibrant cheerful décor with wooden chairs and tables. You can also try something from the a la carte beside the perfect buffet .Go for tandoori chicken ( A famous Indian speciality, chicken marinated in yogurt and saffron), saag paneer (Fresh cottage cheese in spinach) and Lacha or Pudina Parantha ( A layered whole wheat bread or with fresh mint ).

this bright, upbeat restaurant is phenomenally popular with families, particularly at weekends. The non vegetarian menu takes in dishes from all around india, from tandoori to tika to vindaloo. Expect to queue if you don't have a reservation at the weekend.
My family ate here on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. It was not busy, and there was a good reason why--the service is SO bad it makes for an unpleasant dining experience. First, the restaurant was uncomfortably cold. We asked our waiter to turn down the air conditioning that was blasting above our heads. He never made a move to lower the temp (I was watching him carefully) and then came back and told us he had taken care of it. Second, the waiter got in a fight with me about the wine (long story). Third, we ordered a large variety of appetizers, small plates and main dishes. After 40 minutes of waiting, they all arrived at the same time! On the plus side, the food was excellent, but not worth the rude service.
The food was good, but this is not a place to go to if you want to enjoy a meal while catching up with friends. Waiters gave us the stink-eye when we weren't finished with our appetizers, asking if we "wanted to just send the meals back, then?" They tried to take the appetizers away and were annoyed when we asked the entrees be placed on the table as well--banging plates and silverware, sloshing water and wine as they made room for the entrees. Later, our waiter would walk past our table, not even breaking his stride as he asked us if we needed anything else. It would have taken just a touch more effort to make us feel that this was a worthwhile dining experience, but it was not something the staff seemed particularly concerned about.
