India mixes with America, noise with calm and serious fun with seriously trained service in this restaurant and lounge with a subway-themed cocktail menu.

Forget the "India" in Indebleu. A change of chefs means a change of menu - and now it's "pan-Asian". New chef former sous chef at Citronelle. Food good - but dining room EMPTY on a Tuesday night. Summer special free dessert sampler plus free glass sparkling white wine compensated for $10 specialty drinks. The problem is that there are so many "pan-Asian" restaurants around - esp in this area of town. "Little dishes" also so many around. Staff couldn't have been friendlier - I know they are desperate for business. They'll have to come up with some "hook".
A group of four of us went searching for a nice bite to eat on a Thursday night, and found this place by accident. The service was very good and the food was excellent food. All the appetizers we had were excellent, especially the tuna tartar spring roll (cilantro basil dip was awesome), the Baby Roquette Salad and Hearts of Palm Salad. The filet of beef melted in my mouth and the potatoes were great. The sauce that accompanies the Rice Fritters was outstanding. Definitely try the Spaghetti and Meat Balls desert (the saffron cardamom ice cream – sounds strange but it works). The only disappointments were the mussels, the chocolate covered banana, and the coffee (though made in a French press not strong enough). Will definitely return.
The menu had enough selections to satisfy diverse palate in our party. The ahi tuna appetizer was terrific. Dessert was delicious as well. Plus a member of our group is a TastePost member and got complimentary glasses of wine. Service was excellent.
This is the best food for the money in Washington D.C. The chef, who I found out came over from Citronelle, has put together an excellent menu which has been recently updated. The Salad-Bleu is one of the best and most unusual salads i have had. The Fois Gras is worth the trip by itself. My wife and I shared two entries - the salmon and the bass - both of which were outstanding and unique. I have been a big fan of Inde-Bleu over the years but I will admit it has had a bit of an identity crisis and the service has not been consistent. This was the best experience I have had. Great food, great service, reasonable price and cool layout! Everyone should try this place once or twice!
My husband and I were at a business function in China Town and decided to dine at Indebleu. We had dined there years ago and had a good experience, but had since heard that the service was lacking. Those days are far gone! We were greeted from the moment we stepped into the restaurant and were serviced extremely well from our drink order to my final bite of dessert. I was pleasantly surprised not only by the menu changes (and apparently new Chef, Mike, that was previously with Citronelle!) but the experience in general was really top notch. I highly recommend the Foie Gras, Scallop appetizer, Salmon with Lentils, and the Peach Beignets!!!
I haven't been to Indebleu for dinner in over a year and went last night with a group of friends. I have to say, I was BLOWN AWAY-- I knew it was an amazing atmosphere, cool vibe and the food was always good, but now the food is one of the best in the city, no doubt! Will definitely go back soon, service was outstanding and they were very accomodating!
Went there recently with my girlfriend, and noticed that there was no front entrance. We were shuffled through what looked like an architectural office into an elevator to the second floor. The waiter appeared annoyed throughout the evening, while the hostess kept sighing loudly. The salad was simply lettuce soaked in balsamic vinegar dressing (I mistook the leaves for duck breasts, so dark they were). A club downstairs kept thundering throughout the early evening with occasional bits of silence. (Tantra lounge had been converted into a club.) The check came with 20% gratuity included (even though there were only 2 diners), and the copy to sign never indicated this. If this placed isn't closed soon, I'd be shocked.
A group of 13 of us went to IndeBleu’s lounge on Saturday night. By the end of the night, three of our tabs were inflated; we were charged for several drinks we did not order. I was shocked this happened to multiple tabs in our one group in one night. If you make it out to this lounge, beware!
