The place is so loud! The noise bounces off the brick and metal and despite the empty tables we were jammed next to 2 other couples. The table was sticky and the waiter was snippy, objecting to my wine and main course pairing. I asked for the duck well done and was told point blank that the chef would not cook it that way - why ask then? Chairs were put on tables and the floor was being mopped as we were eating dessert and it was only 9.30pm at this point! Definitely not coming back.
Everything is good here. The quality of meat and especially vegetables are great. They know how to balance strong flavors and cook everything just right. I would skip on the desserts since they are nothing special.
I just moved to Silver Spring and my partner and I were excited to try Jackie's. After a long wait for our dinners, my grouper was undercooked and took at least another 10 minutes to return from the kitchen. When the bill came and nothing was compensated, I asked to speak the manager. Jackie, herself, came instead. She literally asked me if I had to send it back a 2nd time and if I ate my recooked dish. She told me it was a tough judgement call and grouper takes "a really long time to cook." I refused to argue with her and asked her to leave the table; twice. Then and only then she offered us dessert. You know the items on the menu that cost the least to make and have the largest markups. Unacceptable.
