When it comes to meat and that essential injera, Langano is a standout.

Langano is a favorite restaurant of mine, because you get very well cooked, flavorful Ethiopian with generous portions for a low price. This is definitely the value for Ethiopian I've seen. That said, their selection is not as wide as a place like Meskerem nor is there nearly as much attention to the decor. But I don't come for the ambiance, I come for the food, which compares well. The service is generally helpful and polite but not fast. Langano is open very late at night , so it's a great choice for a late meal in the burbs, but sometimes they have live musical acts which makes the place very loud. All things considered, it's still my favorite choice for Ethiopian.
This was a terrible experience. First despite many open tables they seated us directly by the front door. Second, we ordered a platter off the menu, we know what comes with this meal. When the waitress brought it our favorite dish was missing. When I asked the waitress insisted that this was what we ordered, but when I asked again she admitted they were out of that dish and offered to give us some more of one of the others. If I hadn't asked she would have passed that off as a complete order. I've had this platter many times at other restaurants and typically the stews are warm, this time they were ice-cold like they'd been scooped straight out of refrigeration. The flavor was poor and the food tasted stale. Do not eat here!
