This is the Komi of Southeast Asian food. A group of four diners who like to share works well. No choices on the food but you can read the particular week's menu on the website in advance (although the menu is more meaningful AFTER you eat than before). If you take the server's guidance on beers, wines, other drinks you will get a second interesting set of flavors. In a perfect world, you could eat this well at a comfortable table and not need to wait outside in the chill because of the no-reservations policy, but the price is low enough to compensate.
While the food was as close as one can get from Bangkok, paying those hefty prices was not worth it. The Thai food market is oversaturated being the main cuisine representation for SE Asia. At the same time, you will not go to other Thai restaurants expecting to pay steep prices. Just because it is coming from a 5 star member family restaurant, it should not equate itself to charging 5 star prices.

These were followed swiftly by the delicious beef--charred and hammered. The end result is more like a robust hangar steak pounded flat and roughly chopped... I have been ruined for every other Thai restaurant -- after just one meal here. The flavors and textures are complex and multi-layered and long long long. Delightful staff, too.
