It's a favorite for birthday parties: a setting fit for a pasha and seven-course barrages of ornate flavors for $30 per person.
This place used to be one of the great, cool unknowns in Washington, but years of neglect have left it old and dirty on the inside, while serving food that ranges in quality from bland to terrible. The Moroccan uniforms seem old, tired, and dated as does the whole concept. The food used to be good, but now is, frankly, abysmal. The wine is from a (bad) box, repackaged in already-opened wine bottles, and everything is served in a cheap plastic cup. All of the food is pathologically underseasoned. The ownership needs to start over, beginning with the kitchen. Hard to see how this is an "Editors' Pick" unless that rating is 10 years Old. Those who enjoyed Marrrakesh 10 and 20 years ago will be sorely disappointed at what it has become.
Received a gift card as a gift, used on New Years Eve (Sat), they first said that the card can only be used Mon-Thurs(was not specified on the gift card), then, there were 4 ppl in my party, each course was one serving that we had to share, we were provided no silverware, was advised to eat with our fingers. We all paid 31.00 per person for some terrible food, then there was a 29.00 service charge added to the bill, they only accept cash or check. DO NOT BOOK DINNER HERE! This place is highway robbery!!! Never Again! RUN RUN RUN!
