Love Mon Ami Gabi. While the food isn't a show stopper, the entire experience is 3 star. Especially love the nightly specials and the jazz music during the week. A favorite
This is a great spot for the money especially if you stick to their specialties which include steak frites, onion soup and other bistro classics. Service is good. I love the deoor which is very Paris.
We enjoy a light lunch or dinner at Mon Ami Gabi before or after a weekday movie in Bethesda. It's a pleasant environment for a moderate meal. Perfectly acceptable food and service.
Mon Ami Gabi used to be one of my favorite places in Bethesda, but the last two times I was there I noticed a dramatic drop in the quality of the food. Not sure what's going on there...
The wait staff was pleasant if a little slow both times I was there. I love skate and was happy to see it on the menu. Unfortunately, it was spoiled and I couldn't get the taste of ammonia out of my mouth for hours. The manager didn't seem to be bothered when I mentioned the rotten skate. She told me I could order something else, but my palate was ruined and it killed my appetite. The second time I went I tried to order the skate again. The smell coming off my plate made it pretty clear that the fish was rotten again. The waiter even mentioned that he'd never smelled anything like it. This time, we just asked for the check. Luckily we checked the tab before leaving. Actually had to remind them to take the rotten fish off the tab.
