Frank Ruta's artful food is served against a warm and rich backdrop.
Go to the Palena dining room after viewing the seasonal menu online to determine if it's to your taste. Go knowing the menu is fixed price--you have options, but not many, so decide ahead. Go ready to spend a lot of money for some exquisite tastes--the goal of dining here is not to "fill up," but to experience remarkable combinations of tastes and memorable dining.
Gosh, what a disappointment. Guests are chumps if they submit themselves to this pricey totalitarian scheme of two expensive prix fixe with no 'a la carte' option. With all due respect to the chef's vision, this approach serves the restaurant well but the hapless guest not so much. Food is good, but sparingly offered. Wine list is short which is fortunate because it is uncomplicated and no help was offered with it, anyway.
