This ship has caved into a fast production restaurant like all of the rest of the mundane places in the Reston Town Center. Feed the masses, fill the seats with asses, and the only way that gets done is by trying to cater to the tastes of the culinarily deprived. Tom hit the nail right on the head with his review of the over rated Passion Fish. I agree the crab cakes are pretty good but the rest is BORING! And I am not paying to be bored while eating.
We always enjoy the cuisine and the experience of PassionFish, and have chosen it often for special occasions. Restonians since 1973, we have enjoyed the growth and evolution of our hometown and its complement of eateries. PF is part of a new wave of establishments in the Town Center and we hope it has secured a niche at this point. Your review missed the ceviche, which is popular selection in our family.
Entertaining friends from the west coast and just back from a gastronomic tour of Australia and New Zealand, the four of us had only positive comments for the food and service. Our fish and seafood entrees (scallops, halibut, flounder, and fluke) were perfectly prepared, nice combinations of flavors. Did not have sushi but I had the hamachi crudo as an appetizer and it was spectacular. Will make the drive from DC again.
Ordered three small dishes to sample. - Clams Casino: mostly crumbs drenched in oil, with a few tiny, chopped clams. - Grilled octopus: Sour, rancid, with stringy, watery texture, as if it came from a can. Covered in soupy medley of who-knows-what, adding more liquid to the unpleasant stew. Sushi: I've had better at a local market. Rice was dry totally ruining the taste.
