New Haven-style pizza, near the Columbia Heights Metro.

These guys really have started something great! They might as well call it D.C. style pizza. I hope they open up in Arlington.
I'm from New Haven and think Pete's serves up the best apizza in the DC area. I agree that it's not Pepe's (nothing beats Pepe's), but it's the closest your going to get to quality pizza in the entire metro area.
What I like about the place is it's simplicity.Nothing fancy or highbrow, the pizza is simple and to the point. The only opinion I can really offer is that if it is not from New York or Chicago, the cliche of the pizza world may fall flat with some people. Me being me however,I like different. I will go back during my next visit to the area.
Pretty good pizza for DC. But it is nothing close to "New Haven" pizza. The crust has good taste, but way too thick. No brick oven, a little skimpy on the ingredients (maybe a cost-saving measure for these tough times). I went hoping and praying it was even close to Sally's, Pepe's or Modern's. But I was disappointed. Still, it is good for DC.
This place is great! True to its New Haven roots where the crust is both crunchy and chewy and the toppings are simple and so delicious! It is not gourmet pizza - it is the real deal! Thank you for finally bringing delicious pizza to the area!
The only decent pizza place in the neighborhood except for Radius. Excellent desert and nice atmosphere as well. Not cheap though.
I am shocked by the negative reviews here. I think their plain cheese slices are among the best in town and a bargain at $2.50 each. The Sorbillo's original (a type of calzone) wins rave reviews in our house as well. The staff is competent and runs an eco-friendly restaurant. I love Pete's!
