Downtown steakhouse is more a ritual than a restaurant; the atmosphere is posh, the staff pampers and the prime rib is still the primary draw.
I have been going to the Prime Rib since 1977. Very little has changed over the years and that makes me happy. The prime rib I had last night was melt in your mouth delicious. The crab imperial my dining partner had was as good as it gets. If there is a downside to the restaurant it is the salads and sides. The iceberg lettuce wedge with blue cheese dressing isn't as good as it used to be. They have changed the both the dressing and the lettuce. It's good, but no longer great. The creamed spinach was also only acceptable. Overall, the service was impeccable, the wine delightful, the decor iconic, the entrees first class and the experience worth every dime. Diffently, one of my favorite restaurants in the city.
