Hidden within a nondescript strip mall in South Riding, Rangoli's storefront conceals a bright and colorful dining room with a long menu of pan-Indian flavors.

Though the kitchen prepares the typical Indian standards, including tandoori options, chicken tikka and curries, the chef is creative with spices and alters the menu frequently to add new and less-familiar dishes. Of these, standouts include chilli paneer -- a well-spiced Indo-Chinese stir-fry dish -- and baingan bharta, a dish of Thai eggplants in a peanut-laced sauce.

Ordering a variety of Indian fare can quickly take a toll on the wallet. Fortunately, Rangoli's diverse lunch buffet is an affordable way to sample an array of dishes. Offerings typically include at least three meat dishes, curries, dal, dessert and unlimited bread.

Watch Credit Card statement for inflated charge! Issue#1 Had bill of about $100, with no tip added. Then I submitted a Entertainment.com coupon of $10. They updated the bill by reducing it by $10, but added 18% tip, though there was no such stipulation on the coupon! My final bill was for $106. Issue#2 Next month when by chance I looked at my monthly credit card bill carefully, I noticed that I have been charged $160 instead of $106!! Openly cheating customers on these 2 above issues! Help!! Salesh 703-723-5229
