Rose’s Luxury brings quirky, exciting cooking to Barracks Row
Rose's Luxury is the next freshest thing in DC. The composition of some of the dishes will have you imagining whether the kitchen challenges itself, Chopped-style, with an ingredient basket where one thing doesn't go with the rest - except the execution here works, especially for the creative eater. The service was refreshingly fun and engaging as it was professional, and a chef even brought us an amuse bouche. Most everything was a hit for me except the potato bread starter, which I thought was ho-hum despite its good intentions, and the brisket entree was more dry than it should have been. But you'll never enjoy cauliflower or octopus more. In fact, next time, I could even skip the entrees and compose a meal of the smaller dishes.
Nice service, a couple of dishes that work well, but basically a very pretentious place in the shabby chic mode with too many weird food combinations that don't work at all - like foie grass french toast for dessert
