Tom's review of Alexandria's Stardust is severely dated. The place is far beyond charming, and the menu (which changes seasonally) is probably the best in Alexandria. It is also the most sophisticated veg-friendly menu in the area. The service is flawless (and perfectly appropriate for the casual but not low-end environment). You need a do-over on the Post's review; i was never right, and is now completely wrong.
How long is long enough to become a neighborhood fixture? I have about 20 meals at Stardust and am always looking forward to the next one. There is a spirit in the place that is a cornerstone that most places fail to ever achieve. I dropped in one night to the Thai New Year water carnival, if you get the chance you will be thrilled. The team effort that goes into running what looks like a hodgepodge of old buildings brought together in an interesting feat of design, must be a challenge to work in, but helps create food magic. Try a quick lunch at the bar side and the conversations cover any topic you can imagine. Fast service at the right price range. Wine by the glass seems to be a speciality and nine drat beers.
