A family-friendly spot from the owners of Restaurant Vero.

We live very close to Tap & Vine and were very excited to see it open. Unfortunately, the menu is small and doesn't change much. What really bothers me is calling it kid-friendly but not offering any healthier options either for kids (typically pasta, macaroni, etc.) or adults (fries with EVERYTHING). I love to support local establishments, but would is it so much to ask for a vegetable here and there?
We went to tap & vine with our two kids and we all loved it. I enjoyed the outstanding fish tacos, the kids liked the goldfish crackers and crayons on the table, and my husband liked the wonderful on-tap beer selection. A great place which pleases adults and kids alike. We went on a Friday night and it was not too crowded or noisy. Highly recommend.
The food is alright, nothing special. Same with the atmosphere. It's kind of like eating at home, actually, except really expensive for what you get. Nothing about the place justifies charging $9 for a burger, or $8 for a cup of chili. Other places sell better versions of everything on the menu for cheaper (e.g. great american restaurants), in a much classier setting (chairs were likely pirated from a church basement meeting hall or similar). They try to market it as "family friendly," but just because it has cheap decor and is less expensive than vero doesn't mean it's a family place, cheap, or good. Get a burger from five guys, buy some fun beer at westover market--you'll be glad you did.
We didn't even know this restaurant existed, and then we found out it was owned by Joy & veronica(We love Vero's)!! It is definitely a family place, kids everywhere...loud, noisy, you get it?! But... the beer choices are exceptional, and outstanding, the food quite good (fish tacos supurb, and I don't really like fish tacos-go figure?). I would like to see them do something about the noise issue as well as the chairs(NOT comfy). The decor is rather cheap/burlap drape panels, brown paper table covers (no crabs though). Also, the wine list needs major work. It is better than all that have preceded it however. We will be back!!
Went for drinks and light fare with friends. The wine drinkers were all quite disappointed. For a place touting the wine selection in their name the meager choices were an unwelcome surprise. The beer selection is much better. The appetizer/snack food menu is sparse as well. The chairs and tables were not very comfortable. Probably won't go back for an adult evening out.
We’ve been a half dozen or more times and enjoy it. It’s a pleasant, not-fussy place to get a bite to eat and have a beer (you can’t complain about the beer menu!). The food is decent. Think of it as bar food and you have the idea. The truffle oil fries are to die for. Green pork stew? Take a pass unless you like your stew from a blender (where’s the meat, it’s all mush). Fish tacos are generally acceptable (remember – bar food). The steak has been good except for the one time it was shoe leather. The tomato soup is very good and it’s hard to mess up a green salad. Appetizers are generally good. It’s the neighborhood eatery and bar. Have a beer and grab a bite. Now, the bread pudding – they haven’t had a bad one yet.
Great food, great service and cozy too! We're hooked!
I've been a few times and my latest visit was just as enjoyable. I consider it "upscale casual," so check your fine-dining expectations at the door. Loved the strip steak, which came with fries and a salad (I'd say that's an incredible bargain at $13!). The beer selection is unbelievable (on tap and bottled), and most are priced like it's happy hour all day every day. My friends tried a couple glasses of wine and had nice things to say; but they agreed the by-the-glass list could be longer. Regarding the staff, our server was as quick and considerate as he could be -- it was Friday night and the place was rocking. I see that as a testament to how popular this place has become. I'll definitely be back with friends in tow.
Tap and Vine failed to meet even our lowest expectations. As a new restaurant run by a wine store owner, we were surprised by the almost hot red wine we were served not to mention the very expensive prices ($10 for a mediocre cab?) and small wine by the glass list. Service was slow, fairly amateur, and the dinner menu paltry. Dinner for two adults and two kids was $80 and we all left underwhelmed and confused. Tap and Vine either needs to go lower scale and focus on families (i.e., prices) or focus on the wine connection and beef up its menu. We won't ever go back until it does one or the other.
First of all, can we not complain about the kid-friendly attempts by the owners? My wife and I went there without kids and did very well indeed. The beer/wine lists are divine, particularly the beers. Stone IPA on tap? You bet! The green chili pork stew is heavenly; the fish tacos a LITTLE bland; the steak was perfect. Nice bread pudding. Charcuterie appetizer very tasty. We were very happy indeed, and we'll be back.
We really enjoyed our meal at Tap & Vine. The menu offers plenty of sophisticated touches but at very reasonable prices. Staff was very friendly and attentive, too.
