There's a party going on, Mexican-style. Try the specials.

If this place had decent food, I'd go at least once a week. It's such a waste of a great roof top. Go to 7-11 and buy a bag of round tortilla chips and a jar of salsa and you'll know how your meal will start. Not fresh. Maybe they make a few dishes that are good, as one reviewer suggested. I haven't had one. Am I not supposed to eat the simpler dishes? How are the specials any good if they can't even get the easy stuff right? From the outside it has so much potential. It's a shame, and I wish I could say it was worth visiting.
I'm warning you now...stay away! The chips they serve are from a bag (what kind of Mexican restaurant doesn't make their own chips?!?). The older woman who works there is extremely rude; we ordered sangria and she literally growled at us for our ID's. We then placed an order for enchilada's and they arrived in less than two minutes; it was obviously not made fresh. The food actually smelled like dirty dish water. My fiancé (who eats ANYTHING) took one bite and spit it out. It was truly disgusting. I've had better refried beans from a can and the "rice" was grey and cold. We asked for our check and they completely ignored us.
What a weak review! No mention of the great fish, shrimp, and pork entrees; the great variety of sauces; and the wonderful specials. We've been regulars for more than 20 years and hardly recognized one of the best Mexican places in the DC area given what was written. The writer might as well have gone to Taco Bell for the kinds of selections she describes. If you like great food and would like to be treated to some of the best that Mexico has to offer, go to Tia Queta's, ask Roberto what the specials are and select one, and prepare yourself for a wonderful meal. Nachos? Enchiladas? Tortilla chips? Give me a break! Better yet, TRY AGAIN. Bill
