Tryst Coffeehouse and Bar

For urban hipsters, a good coffee hang-out is as much of a Sunday a.m. tradition as -- well, going to church. And now, finally, there's a spot in Adams Morgan that's just perfect for getting a cup of joe, reading the paper and munching on a bagel while you let the day of rest slowly come to life. It's called Tryst.

Owner Constantine Stavropoulos wants artsy types to feel right at home here. Writers can plug into one of four ports available to customers; aspiring interior decorators will appreciate the copper-plated counters and plush velvet armchairs; and city-dwelling philosophers can observe the ebb and flow of human existence through the store's front wall of windows.

But you need only look as far as the no-nonsense Tryst motto -- "No corporate coffee, no matching silverware" -- to understand why there are plenty of practical folks hanging out there too. The place turns into a bar at night and keeps both bar and diner hours. Tryst serves liquor, wine and beers as well as all the requisite coffee drinks and snacks like waffles, muffins, bagels and bread baskets.
