It's a little bit of everything -- a neighborhood meeting place, a bar and a cafe with a Scandinavian/Slavic menu.

1) The food is quite tasty. 2) The service here is terrible!!! 2a) The kitchen is closed from either 2p or 3p until 5p daily. I'm not sure of the kitchen closure hours because they're not posted anywhere!! 2b) I've been here four times and have yet to have pierogies(even though I ask for them every time!)...just can't seem to get the timing on the availability of that dish right either! 2c) The wait staff is truly hit or miss. 2d)Finally, the chef is rude and rules from the kitchen. As one poster mentioned already, be ready for battle if you send the food back or don't like anything. They will ALWAYS say that the food is fine, with your dish returned looking a little disheveled and require that you pay full price!
I'm a regular. I have eaten the majority of the items on the menu. Excellent meatballs, goulash, brussel sprouts. The variety on the menu allows one many different options- fill up on a less than ten dollar kilebasa sandwich, or splurge on a three course meal. I find the service to be great, especially tuesday and wednesday nights. My four star rating should be taken with a grain of salt. This is not Citronelle, just a great neighborhood bar and cafe that we all wish we had.
I'm a regular here. I go here at LEAST once a week...today i ordered the shredded chicken sandwich.... it tasted strange. It was chicken, but i tasted fish. I didn't even ask for my waitress to take it but she saw that i was noticeably revolted by it, so she took it then brought me a menu.... i picked something else by the time she returned, and after I told her my choice, she left and spoke to the chef. When she returned, I noticed that she was chewing....on my sandwich. she said, "i tasted it, it's my favorite sandwich, and its fine, so i still have to charge you." she basically refurbished my sandwich, and brought it back to me. still chewing. Apparently the owner tasted it. since they bot enjoyed my meal, that I bought, I had to pay.
My wife and I love supporting small businesses, especially the ones near our community. However, we are learning the hard way with some of the business that only want to cater to a certain clientele (i.e. young, hippy, former peace corps types) and want to assume that every black person/couple that walks in the door isn’t gonna order a cocktail or food or tip. Unfortunately, my wife and I were just in a mood for a coffee and cappuccino when we decided to visit Domku. We were also ignored by the server who was busy with her friends and had a terrible attitude when we told her we had no cash but our debit card. I would not recommend this place ever again.
That's they way our waiter responded when we complained that we had been waiting 40+ minutes for our food. He told us the kitchen was "backed up," but it turned out (confirmed by the lady in charge) that he had forgotten to turn in our order - and this was on a quiet Sunday afternoon. The food may be great (we never found out), but the service is so amateurish as to overshadow even the best food. We'll never go back of course, not when there are so many places that CAN provide adequate service - and without the Zonker Harris attitude.
I wanted to like this place. It's too cute, and the menu looks great. But the service was painfully slow and indifferent. Our meal was close to three hours long. We arrived at 6:00 and couldn't even order dinner until 7:00. The food was fine, but by the time it actually arrived, I didn't even care anymore, I just wanted to go home.
Coming from a Polish family, I was a little skeptical of what I would find at Domku. However, the food was very good and reasonably priced. The pierogis were sold out so no advice on that. The beer was over priced for the area and not worth the $6+ a glass.
Nice little place, food is tasty the staff very hip and friendly. The dishes are different but good a bit pricey for the area but all in all a nice change of pace.
I loved the variety. The food was good. Sometimes I was not sure what I was eating but that is part of the fun.
