"Shrimp" made from yams and "tuna" from seaweed? Post critic Tom Sietsema finds the mock meats at this peaceful vegetarian restaurant pleasingly convincing.
Yuan Fu is one of my favorite restaurants, period. That's including restaurants that serve meat. If you're a vegetarian, all the better. I would recommend the spicy tofu hot pot and veggie basil duck in hot pot. Both are delicious. To be honest I don't think you can go wrong with any dish. Whenever I visit home in Montgomery County I always go here with my father. Also, the waitresses all have entertaining personalities. There's one waitress that can be kind of sour sometimes, but that's ok, because it just adds to the personality. I will say that not everyone in my family is as in love with it as myself and my father, so it may not be your favorite. But everyone I know who has had it at the very least likes it.
Last time I went here the eggplant was very dry so I requested another dish. The waitress came by with the new dish and proceeded to take the eggplant off my and my friend's plate! I couldn't believe it...I guess she thought we may be scamming them for extra food. I have been there many times and didn't expect this kind of treatment. That said the food is decent and inexpensive.
