Joan Miro: The Ladder of Escape

Along with Salvador Dali, Catalan painter Joan Miro was one of the most influential surrealists of the 20th century. A few of Miro's paintings are already on display in the National Gallery, but in May, a traveling exhibition of about 120 of his works arrives. The show highlights his political side, with a focus on his response to some of the most turbulent events in Europe, including the Spanish Civil War and World War II.
