Set atop the underground portions of the Sackler Gallery, National Museum of African Art and S. Dillon Ripley Center, this garden provides plenty of benches for museum-weary tourists.

Red brick walkways wind through this 4.2-acre site, which is chock full of intricately landscaped areas. A large rectangular parterre -- an elaborately landscaped Victorian-style garden -- sits at the center of the space. The Moongate Garden, a peaceful spot near the Sackler Building, borrows architectural elements from a 15th-century temple in Beijing. The Fountain Garden, another space on the site, was inspired by the Court of the Lions at the Alhambra in Granada, Spain.

The garden's character changes every season with new plantings and colors.
