Editorial Review

Jackie Flanagan calls U Street "Ex-Corporate Alley" because so many of her fellow shopowners are converts from the corporate world. Flanagan herself came from advertising and publishing, fields she worked in for the past seven years while also pursuing her retail aspirations in small niche stores like Good Eye Interiors.

Named after Flanagan's fashion-maven granny, Nana features new and almost-new styles, the concept being to pair new pieces with unique older ones. American Apparel T-shirts, Mary Green lingerie, Ogden Little handbags and Fashion Doll hats and totes make up the mix of merchandise. New T-shirts run about $16.95; more for those with embellishments. Her most expensive item is a Pucci skirt for $300.
