The two Subzi Mandi stores in Maryland claim the area's largest selection of films from India, Bangladesh and Pakistan. The Langley Park branch has more than 6,000 titles and the Rockville location about 3,000.
"Most of the people who come here like to see movies in their own language," says owner Samir Talati. "There are a lot of grandfathers and grandmothers who stay at home and don't like American movies. They can see these and feel a connection to their culture." The remainder is divided between the Telugu and Tamil languages.
