The Mexican Cultural Institute of Washington is located on top of a massive hill on the edge of Adams Morgan, a bustling Washington neighborhood with a sizeable Spanish-speaking population. It is housed in a magnificent four-story Italian-style mansion, designed at the turn of the century by Wyeth and Fuller, the architects who designed the West Wing of the White House. For many decades, the embassy of Mexico was located there, but when the embassy moved to Pennsylvania Avenue in 1989, the Mexican Cultural Institute moved in.
Many exhibits are permanent. "The Silver Galleons" and "Mexico: Traditions and Landscapes" are examples of the more than 50 special exhibits the institute has presented.
