I agree with the previous post- those three shows were standouts. Uncorseted, Irish Authors, and My Fab Sex Life, looked very good and wowed the crowds at this year's Fringe festival preview. If you're into comedy, Uncorseted tells a love story, previewed a wild fencing scene, and topped it off with gender bending (looked like the whole cast was in drag, including prosthetic breasts). Irish Authors was very witty - good for the comp lit crowd. My Fab Sex Life and Soup also got big laughs. This is what Fringe should be about - fresh, new work we might not see otherwise.
Of the roughly 114 shows in this year's Capital Fringe Festival running July 9th through the 26th, about 23 took the opportunity to preview their work. About half of those performed for the crowd. There were three standouts. Irish Authors Held Hostage is that rare show, both literate and laugh-out-loud funny. Uncorseted is a bawdy romp that kept the audience laughing up to and all the way through the button-popping money shot. The third show, My Fabulous Sex Life, while billed as a gay man's sexual adventure, should appeal to anyone who likes Fringe. The show is both observant and funny.
