FESTIVALS
Christmas in July
In the heat of summer, Christmas might just be the furthest thing from most people’s minds. But what’s wrong with sharing some holiday cheer while hanging out in the sunshine? For the second straight year, the Christmas Attic in Alexandria has gathered 15 businesses to celebrate Christmas in July. Visitors can decorate cookies, meet Santa and Mrs. Claus in their summer best, taste wines, make ornaments, paint nutcrackers and maybe even kiss under the mistletoe. Learn about the rich history of Union Street on an archaeologist-led tour, and hear live concerts with a mix of holiday tunes. The event is free, but a portion of proceeds from sales go to the Make-a-Wish Foundation of the Mid-Atlantic.
Friday through Sunday. Union Street between Cameron and Duke streets, Alexandria. 703-548-2829. www.christmasattic.com .
