To make the “drinkin' dots” cocktail at the Avenue Suites Hotel A Bar , bar manager Brennan Adams drips two creamy cocktails into liquid nitrogen, then scoops them out. The drink is served in a long shotglass at $2.50 each. Take your time before diving in, however — the dots are so cold they will stick to your tongue.

Hank's Oyster Bar
"Perhaps the most intriguing in this summer of frozen cocktails," writes Fritz Hahn, is Hank's Oyster Bar Capitol Hill's "Forgetfully Fernet, a large coupe full of Jameson whiskey, ginger and lemon juice, topped with an iceberg-sized chunk of frozen Fernet Branca. (I recommend stirring the bitter aperitif into the liquid to mix flavors as well as to prevent brainfreeze.)"

A Bar
At A Bar , Adams will also freeze your cocktail, adding in a touch of sorbitol, to turn the drinks into icy, creamy-textured sorbets that melt on the tongue, but taste like cocktails. The bar will turn several drinks into these frozen boozy sorbets, just ask your server for help choosing. Cocktails are under $12 most nights, but on Wednesdays, four are available at the happy hour price of $6. Making the drinks frozen costs $2 extra.
