Girl Scouts display

The National Museum of American History marks the 100th anniversary of the Girl Scouts by opening an an exhibit called “Girl Scouts 1912–2012,” which looks at the group’s history through uniforms, camping and more.

Honoring the past

Fort Ward Park honors “The Fort,” a community of African Americans who, after the Civil War, settled the land used by the Union Army. Visitors will get a preview of new interpretive signage and remarks about the people who lived there.

Washington Folk Festival

Glen Echo Park plays host to a festival of more than 450 musicians, dancers, storytellers and crafters from across the region. The festival will focus on international culture as well as traditional American blues, bluegrass and old-time string bands.
