Jim Hoagland is a periodic contributor to PostOpinions, writing columns on foreign policy. Hoagland joined The Post in 1966 as a metropolitan reporter. He did stints as The Post’s Africa correspondent in Nairobi and Middle East correspondent in Beirut before becoming The Post’s foreign editor in 1979 and then launching an opinion column in 1986. He won the Pulitzer Prize in 1971 for International Reporting and in 1991 for Commentary.
