The Foundation Schools, which has provided psycho-educational services to students with emotional disabilities since 1975, is seeking a candidate to teach High School English at our Largo, Maryland school for the 2014-2015 school year.
Teachers at The Foundation Schools implement the mastery learning instructional approach by structuring their classroom environment and activities, teaching style, lesson plans and curriculum to meet the individual psycho-educational needs of students. Teachers manage student behavior through the implementation of the behavior modification system, school rules and company policies. Teachers also supervise assigned Program Assistants and serve as student advisers, active members of an interdisciplinary team and participates in group activities and committees.
Teachers must possess a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field. Two years successful teaching experience working with students with emotional disabilities preferred. Maryland High Schools require Maryland Professional Certification or Conditional Certification and will follow Maryland State Department of Education evaluation for Professional Certification in Special Education Grades 6-Adult or Content Area. Teachers must possess certification or meet requirements to submit a Request for MSDE Conditional Certification. Demonstrated knowledge of IDEA 1997 and its specific applications to educating students with emotional disabilities and other disabilities.
