We have an immediate opening for a full-time Senior Network Technician at our Chantilly, Virginia office location.
This position assists in the daily delivery of network services for the company and customers to ensure maximum availability, reliability and efficiency. This includes supporting local area networks, wide area networks, and distributed offices on the enterprise network. Recent hands-on experience with Cisco IOS and TCP/IP configuration is required for this position.
Technologies utilized Cisco, McAfee Network IDS/IPS, Ethernet (10, 100, 1000, 10gb), Category 3,5,6 and Fiber Optic Cabling, Switching, VLAN, VTP, ISL, 802.1q, Spanning Tree, Routing, EIGRP, BGP, TCP/IP, NTP, Encryption, PKI, VPN, Stateful Firewalls, Proxy Firewalls, Wireshark or other network analyzers, DLSW, STUN, SDLC, Terminal Services, ISDN BRI, ISDN PRI, 9.6 T3 circuits, CiscoWorks, AAA, SNMP, Nessus, WAP, Linksys, Cable Modem, DSL Modem, Analog Modem, Digital Modem, DNS, WINS, Windows OS, Unix OS (various flavors), VOIP, H323, SIP, GRE, IPSEC, MPLS, ACLs, and additional protocols for routing, switching, network security, remote access and VPN as needed.
Under general guidance, plans and manages network projects of relatively low complexity for the delivery of network solutions and services and subsidiaries.
Supports numerous network devices, including: switches, routers, firewalls, circuits, modems, DSU/CSUs, multiplexers, voice switches, servers, gateways, and PC workstations.
Provides for business continuity by analyzing requirements, designing solutions, documenting plans and procedures, and conducting testing, in conjunction with all network projects. Ensures that back-up equipment is acquired and positioned for upcoming business continuity tests.
Researches pricing for network services, equipment and maintenance for proposals and contracts.
Assists in coordinating cabling, power and equipment requirements with the customer and vendors for new or existing installations.
Tests, configures and installs network equipment for new or existing networks to support the business requirements of the company and customer.
Provides second level technical support, as required, for network problems. Works directly with customers to resolve network problems.
Develops and maintains network diagrams and documentation, coordinating revisions with Network Operations.
Researches and resolves PC workstation or LAN problems.
Develops and modifies procedures to be executed by Network Operators, customers and other staff to ensure timely and appropriate response to problems.
Provides technical guidance and training to Network Operators and staff members in the use of procedures and network monitoring and diagnostic tools, and in the support of new network configurations and services.
Prepares and maintains business continuity plans and procedures; assists with scheduled business continuity tests.
Coordinates with vendors in the resolution of critical problems and in the repair of equipment.
Provides back-up coverage for Network Operators.
