We have an immediate opening for a Part Time Research Analyst I position at our Alexandria, Virginia office location.

General Duties: 

The incumbent researches problems in response to member inquiries and requests, providing notification to members upon completion. 



Essential Duties:
Researches and reconstructs accounts in response to member inquiries through correspondence or referral from Member Service Representatives.

Responds to all assigned correspondence and requests from Branches, adhering to standards, policies and procedures.

Processes account ownership changes and maintains automated files in accordance with policies and procedures, processing restricted file maintenance as necessary.

Performs the duties of an MSR and establishes new accounts as required.

Verifies requests for Revocable Living Trust with General Counsel before processing.

Prepares and balances General Ledger transaction related to account corrections on a regular basis.

Processes fee reversals within given authority, as appropriate.

Provides payoff information on various loans.

Informs appropriate supervisor(s) regarding automated system problems and coordinates with IT in the correction of these problems.

Suggests changes in forms and form letters to appropriate supervisor(s).

Maintains current working knowledge in all areas of Credit Union products, services, policies procedures and loan and share processing.

Assists with Member Service Hotline

Responds to member inquires via PFCU’s various delivery channels, including email, telephone, mail, or branch visit.

Completes reports or duties as designated by the supervisor.

May receive, process and balance IRA applications and requests for PFCU IRA products in accordance with established policies and procedures, as assigned by the supervisor.

Cancels and replaces checks as required and maintains safekeeping of negotiable instruments.

May provide more in-depth training to new MSRs on IRA products and procedures. May provide IRA update training at staff meetings.

Cross-trains and assists in other positions/functions as required including:

IRA (Individual Retirement Accounts)
Estate Accounts
CPI (Collateral Protection Insurance)
KANA Email
Credit Life and Disability Claims
Extended Warranty

Assists with maintaining PenFed’s compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations and ordinances by abiding by PenFed compliance program and all policies, procedures, rules and regulations.

Job Requirements: 

Associates degree in related field or a combination of education and experience that provides the necessary skills and knowledge to satisfactorily perform the essential job functions.

Two years related work experience required.

Knowledge of PFCU structure, products, policies and procedures required.

Knowledge of IRS/SSA requirements and regulations related to IRAs desired.

Strong oral and written communication skills required.

Knowledge of PFCU loan and share processing preferred.
Note: If an employee is in a bilingual position, their responsibilities will cover both English and Spanish speaking assignments related to the job duties listed in this job description. They must also speak fluent Spanish and may be required to pass a Spanish language proficiency test.

Physical Requirements

Must possess mobility and stamina to work in a standard office setting.

Employees must be able to use standard office equipment including, but, not limited to computer, printer, and calculator.

Employee may have to lift items up to 30 pounds.

Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.

May need the ability to raise arms about their head.

Must be able to bend to file documents and retrieve filed documents.

Adequate hearing and speech to communicate with our members and/or staff on the phone or in person.
