About OWL: OWL- The Voice of Midlife and Older Women is the only national grassroots membership organization to focus solely on issues unique to women as they age. OWL is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that accomplishes its work through research, education, and advocacy activities conducted through a chapter network. For 30 years, OWL has provided a strong and effective voice for the more than 70 million women age 40 and over in America.

Eligibility: OWL has several internship opportunities available for graduate and qualified undergraduate students. OWL prefers interns who can make at least a 3-month commitment, and have relevant academic and/or professional experience. Strong communications skills and computer proficiency are required. Candidates with an interest in women's issues and/or aging issues are especially encouraged to apply. Energy, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn are a plus. OWL internships are available year-round, and are unpaid. Intern projects and assignments are developed based upon the individual skills and expertise of each intern.
Below is a list of issue areas and some of the tasks that may be expected of you as an intern.
Issue Areas:
Public Policy: Assist with efforts aimed at getting OWL's message out to policy leaders and decision makers, including: issue research, attendance at hearings and briefings, legislation tracking and analysis.
Field Services: Assist with OWL's grassroots activities, including communications with chapters, membership development and technical assistance to our 25 chapters nationwide.
Development: Assist with OWL's fundraising efforts, including internet-based prospect research, writing letters, grants, direct mail activities and attending events.
Communications: Assist with OWL's public relations activities, including press releases, all phases of newsletter production, development of PR materials, etc. Accounting: Assist with membership processing, including updating memberships, processing receipts.
